Philly Cheese Steak Crescent Ring

Posted on September 13, 2025

Yes! 🥩🧀 A Philly Cheese Steak Crescent Ring is the ultimate party appetizer or fun weeknight dinner — flaky crescent dough wrapped around savory steak, melty cheese, and sautéed peppers and onions. It’s super easy to make with store-bought crescent rolls, and looks impressive on the table!

Here’s how to make it:

🥩 Philly Cheese Steak Crescent Ring

🕒 Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 25–30 mins

Serves: 6–8 (makes about 12 wedges)

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 1 small green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 small red bell pepper, sliced (optional)

  • 3/4 to 1 lb thinly sliced steak (like ribeye, sirloin, or shaved beef)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1–2 tubes crescent roll dough (8-count each)

  • 6–8 slices provolone cheese or shredded mozzarella/provolone mix

  • Optional: Worcestershire sauce or steak seasoning for extra flavor

  • Optional topping: sesame seeds, melted butter, or garlic butter

🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions:

✅ 1. Cook the filling:

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add onions and peppers, cook 5–7 minutes until soft.

  3. Add steak, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and any optional seasonings.

  4. Cook until browned and cooked through (about 4–6 mins).

  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly (important so the dough doesn’t get soggy).

✅ 2. Prepare the crescent ring:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. On a parchment-lined baking sheet, lay out the crescent dough triangles in a circle, with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the points fanning outward (it’ll look like a sun/star).

  3. Overlap the dough to form a solid inner ring (press together if needed).

✅ 3. Add the cheese & filling:

  1. Lay cheese slices around the wide ends of the dough ring.

  2. Spoon the cooled steak/pepper mixture evenly on top of the cheese.

  3. Fold the pointy ends of the crescent dough over the filling and tuck underneath to form a ring.

✅ 4. Bake:

  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  • If the top browns too fast, loosely tent with foil for the last 5–10 minutes.

🧄 Optional: Brush with garlic butter!

  • Mix 2 tbsp melted butter, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and chopped parsley.

  • Brush over the hot crescent ring before serving for extra flavor.

🥄 Serving Suggestions:

  • Slice into wedges and serve with:

    • Horseradish mayo

    • Cheese sauce

    • Steak sauce

    • Ketchup or spicy aioli

🔁 Variations:
