Ingredients:
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
-
8 oz semisweet or bittersweet chocolate (chopped or in chips)
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark)
-
4 large eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder (optional, for a slight lift)
-
1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional, for extra chocolatey goodness)
Instructions:
-
Preheat the Oven:
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Grease and line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
-
-
Melt the Butter and Chocolate:
-
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chopped chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth and combined. Alternatively, you can melt them in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
-
Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
-
-
Mix the Wet Ingredients:
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until smooth.
-
Add the vanilla extract and the cooled chocolate-butter mixture to the sugar mixture, and stir until combined.
-
-
Add the Dry Ingredients:
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder (if using).
-
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
-
If desired, fold in chocolate chips or chunks for added texture and chocolate flavor.
-
-
Bake the Brownies:
-
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
-
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. For fudgier brownies, you can check for doneness a minute or two earlier.
-
-
Cool and Serve:
-
Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Cut into squares and enjoy!
-
Tips:
-
Add-ins: Feel free to add chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans) for a bit of crunch.
-
Gooey brownies: For even fudgier brownies, slightly underbake them, as they will continue to cook in the pan after you take them out.
-
Storage: Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. They also freeze well for longer storage.
These fudge brownies are perfect for chocolate lovers who enjoy a dense, gooey, and ultra-rich treat. Enjoy!
