Here’s a cheesy sourdough garlic bread recipe that’s crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, loaded with buttery garlic flavor, and finished with gooey cheese. Perfect as a side, snack, or base for open-faced sandwiches!


🧄🧀 Cheesy Sourdough Garlic Bread

🥖 Ingredients:

  • 1 large sourdough loaf (round boule or long batard)

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 3–4 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan (or Pecorino Romano)

  • Optional: ½ tsp red pepper flakes or 1 tsp Italian seasoning


🔥 Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Set to 375°F (190°C).

2. Make Garlic Butter:

  • In a bowl, mix:

    • Softened butter

    • Garlic

    • Parsley

    • Salt

    • (Optional seasonings like red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning)

3. Prepare the Bread:

  • Slice sourdough in half lengthwise (or into thick slices if preferred).

  • Spread garlic butter generously over each cut side.

  • Top evenly with mozzarella and Parmesan.

4. Bake:

  • Place bread halves on a baking sheet, cheese side up.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbling.

  • For a golden top, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.

5. Slice & Serve:

  • Cool slightly, slice into strips or wedges, and serve warm.


🧀 Optional Additions:

  • Add caramelized onions or sun-dried tomatoes under the cheese.

  • Use a blend of cheeses (cheddar, provolone, Gruyère) for more depth.

  • Drizzle with balsamic glaze or hot honey for a gourmet touch.


🧊 Storage & Reheating:

  • Store leftovers in foil in the fridge for up to 3 days.

  • Reheat in a toaster oven or air fryer for best crispness.
