Brazilian Lemonade
Brazilian Lemonade (also known as “Limonada Suíça”) is a refreshing, creamy, and tangy drink that’s perfect for hot days. Despite the name, it’s actually made with limes, not lemons. The unique addition of sweetened condensed milk gives it a creamy sweetness that balances the tartness of the lime. It’s super easy to make and will quickly become your go-to summer drink!
Ingredients:
-
4-5 fresh limes (washed and halved)
-
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
-
4 cups cold water
-
1/4 cup sugar (or to taste, depending on sweetness preference)
-
Ice cubes
-
Fresh mint (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Limes:
-
Cut the limes into quarters. Be careful not to include the white pith in the limes, as it can make the drink bitter.
-
-
Blend the Ingredients:
-
In a blender, add the lime quarters, sweetened condensed milk, cold water, and sugar.
-
Blend for about 30 seconds, or until the limes are well blended and the mixture is smooth. You can pulse a couple of times if you prefer a more textured drink.
-
-
Strain the Mixture:
-
Using a fine mesh sieve, strain the mixture into a pitcher to remove the lime pulp and any seeds. You can press gently with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
-
-
Serve:
-
Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strained Brazilian lemonade over the ice.
-
Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint if desired.
-
-
Enjoy:
-
Stir the lemonade well before drinking, as the sweetened condensed milk may settle at the bottom.
-
Refresh yourself with this creamy, tart, and perfectly sweetened drink!
-
Tips:
-
Adjust sweetness: If you like your lemonade a bit sweeter, feel free to add more sugar or sweetened condensed milk to taste.
-
Make it a cocktail: For an adult version, you can add a shot of rum or vodka for a refreshing twist.
-
Chill it: If you want to prepare this in advance, just store it in the fridge (without the ice) for up to 2-3 hours before serving. Add ice right before serving to keep it cold.
Brazilian Lemonade is a smooth, tangy treat that’s perfect for warm weather. Enjoy!
