Beef brisket

Here’s a classic slow-cooked beef brisket recipe — juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Great for oven, smoker, or slow cooker.


🥩 Classic Beef Brisket Recipe (Oven-Baked)

🔪 Ingredients:

  • 4–5 lb (1.8–2.3 kg) beef brisket (flat or point cut)

  • 1 tbsp kosher salt

  • 1 tbsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 cup beef broth (or red wine for richness)

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 4–5 garlic cloves, smashed

  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)


🔥 Instructions:

1. Prep the Brisket:

  • Pat the brisket dry with paper towels.

  • Mix the dry spices in a bowl.

  • Rub brisket all over with olive oil, then apply the spice mix generously.

  • Let it sit at room temp for 30–60 minutes (or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor).

2. Sear (Optional but Adds Flavor):

  • Preheat a large skillet or roasting pan over medium-high heat.

  • Sear brisket on both sides until browned (about 4–5 min per side).

3. Bake Low and Slow:

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).

  • Place sliced onions and garlic in a roasting pan or Dutch oven.

  • Set the brisket on top, fat-side up.

  • Pour in beef broth or wine around the meat (don’t pour over the top).

  • Cover tightly with foil or a lid.

4. Roast:

  • Bake for 3.5 to 4.5 hours, depending on brisket size. It’s done when fork-tender and internal temp reaches around 200°F (93°C).

5. Rest & Slice:

  • Remove from oven, let it rest (covered) for 20–30 minutes.

  • Slice against the grain for max tenderness.


🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, or coleslaw.

  • Leftovers make amazing sandwiches or tacos.
