Chicken Parm Recipes

Here are two classic Chicken Parmesan (Chicken Parm) recipes β€” one traditional crispy version and one lighter baked version. Both are rich, cheesy, and satisfying!


πŸ§€ Classic Chicken Parmesan (Fried & Saucy)

πŸ§‚ Ingredients:

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved lengthwise (to make 4 cutlets)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs

  • Β½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Β½ tsp salt, Β½ tsp pepper

  • 1Β½ cups marinara sauce

  • 1Β½ cups shredded mozzarella

  • ΒΌ cup Parmesan cheese (extra for topping)

  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

  • Olive oil, for frying


πŸ”₯ Instructions:

1. Prep Chicken:

  • Slice each breast in half horizontally to create thin cutlets.

  • Pound to even thickness (~Β½ inch) between plastic wrap if needed.

  • Season with salt & pepper.

2. Bread the Chicken:

  • Set up 3 shallow bowls:

    1. Flour

    2. Beaten eggs

    3. Breadcrumbs + Parmesan + garlic powder + Italian seasoning

  • Dredge chicken: Flour β†’ Egg β†’ Breadcrumb mix

3. Pan-Fry:

  • Heat olive oil (~ΒΌ inch deep) in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Cook chicken 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

  • Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

4. Assemble & Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C).

  • Place chicken in a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece.

  • Top with shredded mozzarella + extra Parmesan.

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and melted.

5. Garnish & Serve:

  • Top with fresh basil or parsley.

  • Serve over spaghetti, zucchini noodles, or with a side salad.


πŸ₯— Lighter Baked Chicken Parmesan (No Frying)

Differences:

  • Skip pan-frying β€” bake instead.

  • Use panko breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan for extra crispness.

Key Adjustments:

  • After breading, place chicken on a greased baking sheet or wire rack.

  • Spray tops lightly with oil.

  • Bake at 425Β°F (220Β°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.

  • Add sauce + cheese in the last 5–7 minutes and return to oven until melty.


🍽️ Optional Add-ons:

  • Spicy kick: Add red pepper flakes to the sauce or breading.

  • Stuffed version: Cut pockets into chicken breasts and stuff with mozzarella before breading.

  • Air fryer: Cook breaded chicken at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 12–14 min, flipping once.
